• Not a beach resort - pack walking shoes or trainers and comfortable leisure wear.
• Include a fleece if you plan to walk in the mountains and higher ground
• And a lightweight waterproof.
• Accommodation is pretty basic so pack accordingly.
• No need for high heels or dressing for dinner here.
• This is a very young holiday destination and it will be difficult to get sun cream and it will be expensive.
• Take Mosquito repellent.
• Take a Portuguese phrase book, you will find they speak very little English not so many tourists come here) but they are very friendly - just agree the price before you go - they are far cheaper than you would expect to pay on the more touristic islands.
