What To Wear In Iceland
To sum it up - Wrap up warm, comfort is key
- Iceland is close to the Arctic Circle so it is going to be cool whatever time of year you visit.
- It is cool in summer and freezing in winter. However, the weather is very changeable and you really should pack for all weather what ever time of year you plan on visiting.
- From the end of October to the end of March don't expect the temperature to get above zero centigrade - so pack lovely warm layers, a thick jacket, gloves, hat, scarf and warm waterproof boots.
- Reykjavík is the capital city where more than half of Iceland's population lives. Despite being a relatively small capital city, Reykjavík has a reputation for partying with its nightclubs and bars.
- A dark well fitting pair of jeans, dark polo neck jumper and coat and you'll fit right in and maybe a dress for smarter restaurants.
- Remember to pack your swimsuit as swimming is a popular activity all year round and most towns and villages have outdoor or indoor swimming pools filled with water from natural hot springs.
- It is really an active visitors destination with an enormous choice of outdoor activities. Dress in really warm layers with waterproof outer layers, and strong waterproof boots.
- Everything is expensive so make sure you pack everything you think you will need.
