Music Festival Packing Guide

A Capsule Wardrobe for music festivals

When packing for a music festival, minimal is best.

  • First check the weather conditions to help you pack accordingly.
  • It’s a good idea to pack dark coloured and patterned clothes, as they don’t show up the dirt and they can be mixed and matched so you have a variety of outfits.
  • Avoid tight clothes they’ll just be plain uncomfortable.
  • Clever layering is the key to dressing for changeable weather.
  • Keep one full set of clothes dry, there is nothing worse than having to put damp clothes on the next morning.
  • This is a great time to let your hair down and let your wacky side show. Coloured wigs, feathers & crazy outfits are all around.

Suggested packing:

  • Pack a small selection of clothes that can be mixed and matched to make a large variety of outfits.
  • T shirts/ short sleeved shirts (2-3)
  • Spaghetti strap Tops (2) these are a godsend to wear under a shirt to give you an extra warm layer in the morning but allow the sun to reach your shoulders in the day-time.
  • Long trousers (2 pairs) Rohan type, with detachable legs are very versatile.
  • Underwear
  • Dress/Skirt, one that keeps you cool during the day and you can add a pair of trousers or thick tights at night.
  • Waterproof jacket when the sun goes down & the damp rises
  • Fleece
  • Footwear:  Light sandals/ comfortable trainers. Closed in shoes or boots  & socks for the evenings when the damp rises and it gets cooler. Flip flops for the showers. WellingtonBoots just in case.
  • Sleepwear – it can get cold at night when camping.
  • Sunhat
  • Sunglasses
  • Pashmina,scarf
  • Travel bag:It is best if you pack your clothes in to a soft canvas or leather bag and don’t forget to line it with a plastic bin bag. It may seem crude, but will be invaluable if your bag gets wet, as it will keep everything inside bone dry.
  • Day bag / back pack:  for the items you need while away from camp.
  • Picnic Blanket: make sure it has a waterproof underside as damp rises as the sun goes down. Fold up picnic chairs (if allowed) are great too when you’re watching bands all day … and night
  • Trek towel: these are designed specifically, they fold really small and dry quickly too.
  • Sundries:  that you might find handy -Swiss army knife, water bottle, Binoculars, Small torch/headlamp, Small unbreakable mirror and plastic bags for wet/muddy clothes.
  • Toiletries:soap, razors, shampoo, hair products, tooth brush and tooth paste, tissues, sun cream and sun block, Chap Stick, insect repellent, antiseptic hand wipes, face cleansing wipes, baby wipes, feminine products, toilet paper. When packing these items, make sure they are all sealed properly as there is nothing worse than arriving and finding your clothes covered in shampoo.
  • Camera:Ensure you bring along the relevant batteries and adequate memory cards/ film. Make sure you have plenty of batteries.
  • A good first aid kit:it should include band aids, tweezers, elastic bandage, antiseptic cream, Imodium, pain killers and scissors, allergy relief tablets – just in case.
